It is disappointing to find out

... that the lead singer of The Animals, whose voice makes me absolutely breathless, used to look like he did when he sang House of the Rising Sun.
You can't sing like that and then look like somebody's mother's dream of a son-in-law.

its the subtle rebellion in the pose, the clothes and the hair.. if you look at other band photos for the time, that was the norm.

I figure I'm so used to bands and just average people blazoning their world views like neon captions over their heads that subtletly is hard to figure out. Especially that of a few decades ago.
