Guesses, please

We know the Black family motto is "toujours pur".
What is the Malfoy's motto? Any suggestions? I would expect something French, and something along the lines of "le plus et le mieux" was the first that came into my mind, but
a) My French is not all that good and
b) I am not really creative when it comes to tag lines, as my lack of creativity when looking for story titles shows.


For those not familiar with the Harry Potter books, what would you use as the family motto of a supercilious, old, rich family?

pigwidgeon37 came up with "Ma volonté est mon droit" (my will is my right). Le plus et le mieux sounds a little odd ("das Mehr und das Beste", ie, one adverb with one superlative) but old mottos always sound a little odd so it could be a good choice.

Wouldn't "le plus" also mean "das Meiste"?

I rather like melisande88's suggestion, "oderint dum metuant" (Let them hate, as long as they fear). Maybe I'll stick with that for now. It's isn't all that important, it's not going to be a plot device, but I kind of like details.

My collaborator on "Needfire" used an old quote for the Malfoy family's motto and the activating phrase for a portkey: Let them hate, as long as they fear." ...Caligula, Oderint dum metuant.
