Writing woes

A few days ago, I had a great idea of how to start off the rewriting of one of my favorite fairy tales in a style I like.
But I couldn't go through the effort of putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard because it was six o'clock in the morning and I was gulping down my breakfast to head to work.
And now of course it is practically gone, and I will try to piece it together and it will suck.

It's annoying because I actually had it all mentally written, no bothering with vocabulary or finding the right term, and it fit perfectly and set the pace and direction for the rest of the story. It was a little like when you suddenly have a revelation about something you've been worrying about a lot, but before you can grasp at it, it's gone and you're left with the frustrating feeling that you knew the trick.

But I'll stick around lurking in the shadows and hope the muse comes back.
