A moment ago, the dog was eating somebody's shoes out in the hallway. I pondered going out and stopping her, but I am too tired to move much. I hope it weren't my new shoes.
Now it's very quiet, that should probably worry me.
I have been working long hours and staying up late to work on my 2000 pieces jigsaw puzzle and watch TV (Drew Barrymore is a lovely Cinderella. I so totally love that movie.) Now the lack of sleep (I got up at half past five or so) is kicking in. Need to get used to it again, there's really no good to a body that's demanding seven or eight hours of sleep every night.
A few days ago I had the sudden urge to decorate my office with pin-up girls in library-esque settings. I couldn't find any good ones through google, which is probably just as well.
I finished editing 1980 today. But today we surprisingly got another 2000 Euros for the library budget. Problem is, we got the money at 11 today, and the bills need to be in by 9 o'clock Monday. I couldn't really stay this weekend, so I instructed Katrin who said she'd order some stuff we had already put on a wish list at the bookstore in Hammelburg and spend the rest at the huge store in Würzburg. She called later to say the guys in Würzburg weren't sure whether they'd manage to write the bills on time. Well, bad luck! If they don't want our business, we'll just use their collection to make a list of titles and then order the stuff at our local bookstore, who always write the bills at whatever date we need them. I can't believe a huge chain like Hugendubel goes and says they can't write any bills between Friday 4:30 and Monday 9 o'clock, that's simply ridiculous.
I worked really late yesterday. At six I was about ready to leave, but then Tobias (the guy I sometimes casually mention) showed up, so I stayed. Means I worked about 12 hours, with only like 15 minutes lunch break because I was really fine in the morning and work was running smoothly and I didn't want to stop. But if I hadn't done so much Thrusday I wouldn't have gone so far Friday, as I had a really hard time concentrating today.
For the state of mind I was in, driving home went surprisingly well. I do think I was rather absent-minded for somebody going 130 kilometres per hour on a busy road, but everything was fine. No traffic jams, too.
kaitkaitkait linked a face recognition site that matches your face to that of a celebrity. Apparently, I look like Sophie Marceau. (See screenshot here (Uploading that image I notices Scrapbook added a status bar to the upload page. Very nice.)
Anyway. I got nothing to say. I'll go and watch TV now. Something with dead bodies. Today's Friday, that means Cold Case is on.
I suddenly have the urge to whisper "I see dead people..."
Oh, a note on Chronicles of Narnia. As I've mentioned I finished the first books and really liked it. However, now I am not sure I like the movies. judging from the trailers I've seen. I'm so horrible with that. Just like with LotR and HP.

Date: 2005-12-10 01:16 am (UTC)And it was really good, too.
The problem with buying those shows on DVD is that I usually know the solutions after watching an episode once, so there's little point in watching them again.

Date: 2005-12-09 12:22 pm (UTC)Big chain stores always seem to be the least helpfull when it comes to meeting the odd needs of places like libraries.

Date: 2005-12-10 01:19 am (UTC)It's ridiculous, really. If somebody comes up to you and says they want to spend a thousand dollars at your store, you don't go like hey, that's way too much work for me. Even though we do get librariy rebate. (In Germany book prices are fixed, but libraries get rebates of ten to twenty percent.)
