I'm stuck.
Some time ago I wrote a fanfic in German. I finished it, but didn't like it. So when I started to translate I also started changing it.
The idea I started with is good, I think, but the story just isn't really getting anywhere. I have a general aim, but no real plotline. I'm not happy with the language.
I think I need to write down the things I am more or less sure about right now, and then put it away for a time.
I have a scene for another story in my mind anyway, I should write that down before I forget it.

I hate this feeling of having ideas in my mind and not finding the words to express them. I tr to make notes to come back later. I write little ficlets of scenes and kind of file them for later use.
Which makes me feel like the paperback novel writer I once read about, who had scenes all ready in her desk - she in danger, he saves her or vice versa, sex scenes for every opportunity, dialogues - and just put them together and in proofreading had to make sure all characters kept their names and characteristic features over the course of the story.

I just had a look at my LJ calendar. I posted on every single day in August. 31 days in a row. I can't have that much to say!

I listen to 1. outside, something I rarely do. But it fits my mood.

Sometimes that seems to be the best way to do it. Let it ferment for a while. ;) And it gives you the opportunity for a fresher approach on it when you do start working on it again.

Yes, it does help to put things away a while. With this particular story, I have also realized that my writing has changed a lot since I started, so I need to do some major work on it. Which means I need to print it out so I can really read it through. I prefer writing on the computer, but to read and edit, nothing works better than paper. :-)
