Leningrad Symphony
Oct. 16th, 2004 10:13 pmFor the record, Dmitri Shostacovich's* Seventh Symphony is one of the best pieces of classical music ever written.
It's the "Leningrad Symphony", because he wrote it in Leningrad during the war, that is, with the war practically at his doorstep. And you hear that.
It is so powerfull and touching.
*I tried to google a spelling that looked like it could be the English spelling. This should be okay.
