Hmmm

I recently read that the appropriate answer to a compliment is "thanks". No more, no less.
I should probably learn that.
My reaction to compliments is either to fall down laughing because I believe it was a joke or a look of utter disbelief.

Which is strange. It isn't that my self-confidence is so low I think myself stupid and ugly. But if other people make comments that indicate they know I am intelligent or attractive, I always think they can't mean it.
