Anybody know where to find British Army documents that are not in the National Archives?
A patron (brigadier general, no less) is looking for a report and I came up blank. Anybody know anyone in the army? I hate not to have results to show. :-(

Have you tried the ministry of defence websites? They've a section for researchers that might help

I looked, but haven't been able to find anything.
I'm still trying to reach our nearest British liaison officer - in hopes he isn't on holiday...

Have you googled it?

I've found many an interesting item in pdf that way.

Also, feel free to join the ILL listserve using Ill-l-request@webjunction.org (put "subscribe" as the subject) once you're a member, you can ask questions there and get help - members are international. I've received articles from Denmark, for example.

Thanks, I'll try the list. I only had German mailing lists available and they're not much help with such a specific topic. It seems the British liaison officer is on holiday, so I'll have to see if and when I can reach him, that would be the best way to go...

Google unfortunately did not come up with anything, I tried that already. But then I don't know whether the document title that the patron gave me is correct, and he doesn't have any additional information at all.

If you know the unit/organization that was involved, or the ranking officer, contact them directly.

I did the unit history summary for two years running, its a pain in the ass to format.

I wish.
The general (or rather his staff) couldn't even give me a date of publication or where he found the citation. Non-librarians are annoying. ;-)

thats because he doesnt have someone like you on staff! Most ranking officers know if they cite something, there will always be someone who wants to know the full story.
