ranting

I thought about writing about Beslan, but I suppose everybody knows what's going on and it is too late in the day to really put my feelings about this in words.
So I wil just say that I hate insensible journalists. As they don't have any news to tell, they try to get interviews from the people who wait in front of the school to find out whether their children or parents are still alive.
One reporter was just about complaining that the hostages who were set free today were taken away without giving interviews first.
I do believe in freedom of the press and TV, and freedom of information, but this doesn't have anything to do with it. It is plain disgusting to hold a mirophone to the face of a woman who just got out of the most terrible situation in her whole life. "How does it feel not to know whether you will live to see the next morning?" is - in my opinion - not a valid question for a journalist to ask.
That is a lot to write about something I didn't want to write about, but anyway.

I got to do a lot of fun stuff today. Tomorrow all the garbage bins will bepicked up, recycling and regular. Meaning I had too weed through the recycling bins to make sure our tenants only put stuff in that can be recycled. Or rather, pick out the stuff that cannot. For some reason, a lot of our tenants are unable to understand the difference between recycling and simply throw away. Not to mention stuff that should go on the compost heap. So it is always a lot of fun.
From carpets to radios, I had already found a lot in there. Today, it was several flower pots and a toilet seat.
The bins were full, as nobody ever deems it necessary to flatten cartons and boxes before putting them in there. And then they complain to us that the cats get to the garbage. We have given up long ago and take all our stuff to a place in town.
Then I went over to the garden and picked up apples. Just like Cinderella: keep the good ones, throw the bad ones out. Now I know a lot of things from the "Good to know but I'd rather not need the konowledge" category. Wasps are probably more aggressive when drunk from eating rotten apples. But as they are considerably slower than when sober, they canbe easily avoided. Ants, on the other hand, seem to be faster than usual.
When I was done with the apples, and it took hours, I did some weeding and hoeing. (I can't believe this is the right word, but my dictionary says so. It sounds like something that should be rated PG13. But that could be because I'm tired and my mind takes strange detours.)
I cut some flowers, took out the garbage, that kind of stuff.
Tomorrow, I need to go shopping, so that we won't starve over the weekend. Although, my parents want to take us out for dinner on Saturday, or maybe Sunday.
I have just watched James Bond and now I can go to bed.

I do believe in freedom of the press and TV, and freedom of information, but this doesn't have anything to do with it.

Years ago, I saw a video clip of an interview where a journalist shoved a microphone in the face of a woman whose child had died in a house fire. The journalist asked that ever popular question: "How do you feel?" and the father (who was standing next to her) punched him right in the nose.

I've always thought that was an appropriate response to such an idiotic and tasteless question.

Yes, that was exactly the right thing to do. That clip should be shown to every journalist as part of their training.
