I didn't get much done work-wise today. We had the ceremony for the change of command of our section(instead of a Lieutenant Colonel we now have a Major who'll likely be promoted soon) and also I had to do some moving of books.
Also, this morning we had a little end-of-the-year party during NATO-break. So not much real work.
Things got really ugly with Katrin today, though not involving me (much).
We had one of the guys here who tends to tease her a lot about not working and stuff. She always reacts very sensitive to it. But today, she almost started yelling at him, at least talking loudly enough so that people in the next room could hear her (meaning the whole thing was over our department in no time). Why he was always so mean to her and what she had done to deserve that, that sort of thing. And when he started saying it's her sucking work morals that are the reason he teases her about her - well - sucking work morals, she cut him off telling him she didn't want to hear another word of him or something like that.
I though briefly about getting involved, but I am sick and tired of defending the person who openly, even in front of others, tells me that she'll outlive me in this library anyway and that if I bother her too much, she'll just wait until I'm gone.
After the guy was gone, she sat at her computer muttering something about applying for a job elsewhere at a military library. I only barely managed not to go get her the list of job openings immediately.
At the reception for the major this afternoon, just about everybody knew of the thing already. We'll see where it goes. I suppose nowhere, though. She isn't tough enough to pull anything through.
Anyway. I sent another batch of Christmas cards today. They'll be late in the US and Canada, but I do hope I'm on time in Europe.
I think there were around ten or so today, mostly LJers. With the others I sent before I think I got almost twenty. My, I do know a lot of people. And I was at the post office with a friend who just kept grinning as I sorted the letters - those to the US, those to Canada, those to the UK, Norway, and so on - and the girl at the post office was quite shocked, too. Tehee. Not something they have there usually.
Time for a quick flist read before I leave work.
