Nov. 22nd, 2005

There are no showers in the rooms.
Right, and this is not a hotel.

Do I really have to go upstairs to my room, is there no elevator?
No, but maybe you can sleep in your car.

You can't expect me to share a room with somebody for this night!
Well, you can't expect this school to treat you as if you were somebody important, bastard!

It's so cold, why did you open the windows?
Because you asked for them to be opened, bitch!

But in our library, we do it differently than everybody else!
Do you see anybody in this room who cares?

I can't believe you didn't include the opening by the colonel!
I didn't because it wasn't my fucking job, why don't you start doing yours right?

I signed up for two meals but I only want one, why do I have to pay for both?
Because I'm certainly not paying for your stuff, idiot!

My, does it seem as if I am slightly annoyed? I wonder why...
And to make matters worse, the press officer called today and wants a few lines for the newspapers. Which I am to write, of course. Yeah, sure. It isn't as if I've got anything else to do.
So I did write a bit, but I don't know whether it's any good. But who reads these papers here anyway? I still got a day to ponder it.

Also, I am glad I know so many people here already. That helped me get a few rooms last-minute to keep the bitching about that to a minimum.

Now I gotta go meet the people in the casino to chat.
I can tell you, I am so going to leave quite early. There's the last episode of the first season of Desperate Housewives on TV tonight, and I am definitely not going to miss that!
Imagine this being a totally casual post. I am not grinning madly while writing this.

When I left yesterday, I met the guy I talked about here again.
He said he had wanted to come up to the library to check whether I was still working.
We stood outside and chatted for maybe half an hour. Very interesting.
I now know that he lives in one of the small villages around here. He has a flat that is actually too large for just him alone, but as he said "things were planned differently". He has a child that's I think a year and a half or something. But when he talked about weekends, he said he either drives home to his parents or "visit the child". Not his girlfriend.
Not that this is a difference I noticed or cared about. *whistles innocently*

And I saw him briefly today, too, as he came up into the library yet again. Unfortunately, I was really busy running around with preparations, so I didn't have time. (And also was with one of the librarians from Bonn, and as they are, in a way, my bosses, I wouldn't feel comfortable joking with the guys in my usual way with them around. I mean, the guys I work with tend to call me honey or sweety or love, and while this might be common in the southern states, it isn't here.

Eep, he's back!
