Ten things...
Jun. 17th, 2005 08:53 amI hate about you.
Love that movie.
It was on TV yesterday and I watched for at least the second time. (I have the tendency to remember dialogues of movies even after the first time of watching, so that is saying something.)
Stuff like "I can explain the difference between liking and loving to you. I like my sneakers, but I love my Prada backpack." "But I love my sneakers" "Just because you don't have a Prada backpack" crack me up.
Also, it's SHAKESPEARE.
And the edition of his sonnets they're reading is exactly the one I have.
Page 73.
In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes,
For they in thee a thousand errors note;
But 'tis my heart that loves what they despise,
Who, in despite of view, is pleased to dote;
Nor are mine ears with thy tongue's tune delighted;
Nor tender feeling to base touches prone,
Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited
To any sensual feast with thee alone:
But my five wits nor my five senses can
Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee,
Who leaves unsway'd the likeness of a man,
Thy proud heart's slave and vassal wretch to be:
Only my plague thus far I count my gain
That she that makes me sin awards me pain.
I am not sure whether I liek Heath Ledger. He has something. But Julia Stiles fits really well as Cat.
Bianca is just like you'd imagine her to be in the 20th century.
But it's the little characters that make it so good. The English teacher with the really sharp tongue, the counselor that writes porn.
The soundtrack is cool, too. Need to find out who the bands are.
And I need to finally get Shakespeare's plays in English.
And I need DVDs of stuff like this movie so I will be able to watch them in English.
Totally unrelated: American Idiot irritates me. I'm always hearing the songs they took bits and pieces of and then wonder why the text doesn't fit.
Still totally unrelated: Everybody seems to have started using tags. I don't think I will. I am unorganized anyway.
