nicked from just about everyone.
Yes, quite true.
Especially the arrogant and cold part.

You Are An INTP
The Thinker

You are analytical and logical - and on a quest to learn everything you can.
Smart and complex, you always love a new intellectual challenge.
Your biggest pet peeve is people who slow you down with trivial chit chat.
A quiet maverick, you tend to ignore rules and authority whenever you feel like it.

In love, you are an easy person to fall for. But you're not an easy person to stay in love with.
Although you are quite flexible, you often come off as aloof or argumentative.

At work, you are both a logical and creative thinker. You are great at solving problems.
You would make an excellent mathematician, programmer, or professor.

How you see yourself: Creative, fair, and tough-minded

When other people don't get you, they see you as: arrogant, cold, and robotic

Tagged my [ profile] mizzadams.

A. People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.

B. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

001: What are your nick-names?
Uhm... I don't really have a commonly used nickname. My family calls me Mike, for some reason nobody knows.

002: Commando?
No. Just - no.

003: What do you intend to do differently this year?
Be kinder to myself.

004: How many colours are you wearing right now?
Four. Dark blue, pink, white, black.

005: How do you style your hair?
I brush it. Style doesn't really come into it.

006: What was the last book you read?
Last book I completed was "The wayward debutante" by Sarah Elliot. I'm currently reading Nick Hornby's "A long way down" as well as Tom Segev's "The first Israelis" and at work there's a Karl May novel that I read during lunch breaks.

007: Favorite ice cream flavor?
THe local ice cream parlour had a very tasty cherry ice cream two years ago which they unfortunately discontinued. Otherwise, pineapple or lemon.

008: What's the weather like now?
Dark, foggy, cold.

009: Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Trying to figure out my feelings over my grandmother's death. Unhappy news about friends.

010: What are you most scared of?
Teenagers. Seriously.

011: How long does it actually take to get ready in the morning?
I can make it in half an hour from getting out of bed to being ready to leave, including shower and breakfast. Usually, I give myself up to 90 minutes.
If necessary, I can be out of bed, clean, dressed and ready to leave in five minutes, though. Ten if I wash my hair.

012: What websites do you visit daily?
None daily, but if I go online I check my mails and LJ.

013: What classes are you taking right now? And, if not in school, what is your profession?
I'm a librarian in an institution where very few people read.

014: Do you like to clean?
Most of the time, yes. Doing dishes is my form of morning meditation, actually.

015: What the last song stuck in your head?
"Stop the cavalry" by Jona Lewie

016: Hollywood/Celebrity crush?
Not really. Some I wouldn't push from my bedside, but no real crushes.

017: What hobbies would you like to take up if money/time/ability were no obstacle?
Kickboxing or a similar activity.

018: What colour do you look best in?
Fortunately, I can wear a lot of colours. White is worst.

019: What states or other places do you wish to visit in 2009?
I plan a biking tour along parts of the Loire. And maybe visits to come European cities. I've never been to Amsterdam except on the airport, I only know the train station in Strasbourg - that's the sort of thing that needs to be remedied.

020: What are you most looking forward in the next month?
There's not really anything on next month that I know of already.

Okay, whom do I tag? I hate tagging people. But anyway.

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons (but only if you indicate in your comment you'd like to participate in the meme).
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

[ profile] quietselkie asked about the following icons:

Bernd das Brot. He's a character in a German tv show. Theoretically, it's for kids, but as Bernd is deeply sarcastic, depressed and fatalistic, he appeals to many adults. He has two catch phrases: "Alles ist wie immer, nur schlimmer" (Everything is the same as always, only worse) and "Mist" (Crap). He also complains about the fact that his fellows, Chili the sheep and Briegel the bush, never take into account that his arms are too short to participate in their usually stupid and hazardous schemes.
I use him when I feel depressed and feel stupid about that, to make sure I don't take myself too seriously.

This one I hardly ever use. I got it together with my "book fairy" icon and only took it because I thought it was kind of cute and I wanted a not too serious icon. But I rarely post in a mischievous mood, so not much use.

The library. I don't think I've ever been there, it's a Catholic library, I just liked the image and needed an icon for work related and library related posts. And I adore old libraries like this one, even though they're not very practical from a modern point of view.

The Ravenclaw icon is one of a set of several that I filched at the same time. It reminds me that everything come with a price, but that the price often is worth paying. Another that I rarely use - I usually am not very good at voicing deeply philosophical thoughts.

Amber, from the movie "Clueless". The mean chick flick girl. My icon for girly, silly, superficial moods. I admit to having watched that movie several times. Sometimes Amber, who is even shallow when she's mean, seems to fit me perfectly.
Meme I got from [ profile] droxy:

Comment on this post and I will:

1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, a word etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favourite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.

Also, I am pondering the costume question for Portus. I don't really want to dress up as a random witch character, or as "Hogwarts teacher appearing out of the blue", but I don't really fit into any of the canon character roles.
I'm going to get a nightshirt of the grandmother variety and decorate it with overused fanfic phrases and go as "the line that needs a rest". That will fit well with the circles around the eyes I will undoubtedly have after traveling around for three weeks.
I also want a t-shirt that says "I used the loo right after a BNF, treat me with respect".
I'm surprised I came out so positive!
Michael! )
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.

1. I dislike people touching my thighs. I think one reason is that I am extremely ticklish. The other is that I grew up with a mother who'd immediately hit anybody who put a hand on her thigh, as she has the same problem with being extremely ticklish, so I learnt that hand on thigh is bad.

2. I talk to myself. In various languages. German and English, and, whenever I feel I really should do something about me forgetting everything I've ever learnt, in French.

3. I'm always fishing for compliments. This is also a fair warning for anybody going to meet me. I'm an egocentric person from an egocentric family, and being the third kid of four I need constant encouragement. Very bad trait, I really try to work on it. (I also get really embarassed if people do compliment me on something, so this is a kind of a lose-lose-situation for me.)

4. I actually don't know a lot of things, but I am very quick to take up new facts and I am extremely good at pretending. Therefore, you could talk to me for an hour (provided I give you the chance) about something I don't know a thing about - and you might never know.

5. I sleep in a large bed and tend to move my pillow so that I can pretend it's another person.

6. Even as a very small child, I had the ability to appear to listen intently without ever actually taking in a word. Mum tells me that she would talk to me and then find that even though I had looked at her, smiled and nodded at all the right places, was genuinely unable to recount anything she had said.

7. The nails of my smallest toes are really ugly. For some reason, they don't really grow like they should.

I tag: [ profile] jonthedull, [ profile] annie_from_aust, [ profile] martianmooncrab, [ profile] quietselkie, [ profile] dora_long (That's what you get for being on my flist... Sorry), [ profile] mr_witch and [ profile] dearlady. But this doesn't mean anyone of them has to do it. I hate tagging people.

46% Extraversion, 60% Intuition, 80% Thinking, 73% Judging

People hate you.

Paris Hilton hates Nicole Richie. Lex Luther hates Superman. Garfield hates Mondays.

But none these even rates against the insurmountable hate, people have for you.

I mean, you're pretty damn clever and you know it. You love to flaunt your potential. Heard the word "arrogant" lately? How about "jerk?" Or perhaps they only say that behind your back.

That's right. I know I can say this cause you're not going to cry. You're not exactly the most emotional person. You'd rather spend time with your theoretical questions and abstract theories than with other people.

Ever been kissed? Ever even been on a date? Trust me, your inflated ego is a complete turnoff with the opposite sex and I am telling you, you're not that great with relationships as it is. You're never going to be a dude or chick magnet, purely because you're more concerned with yourself than others. Meh. They all hate you already anyway.

How about this- "stubborn?" Hrm? Heard that lately? All those facts which don't fit your theories must just be wrong, right? I mean, really, the vast amounts of time you spend with your head in the're just plain strange.

You scored as White Lighter, You are a White Lighter! You seek the dawning of the New Age and the raising of the consciousness of mankind (which of course happens in 2012, and all in one day). You seek only to do good, and are determined to cut out that pesky dark side once and for all. You know your own role in the coming Earth Changes is important, and you must let all know so they know whom to turn to at that crucial moment!

What Subversive Alternative Paradigm Are You?
created with
Your Power Bird is a Vulture

You are always changing your life and the lives of those around you.
You aren't afraid to move on from what holds you back.
Energetic and powerful, you have a nearly unlimited capacity for success.
You know how to "go with the flow" and take advantage of what is given to you.

I really should go to bed now.
Post seven guilty pleasures that others may/may not know about. Not just simply listing 'chocolate' or 'sex'... something specific. And then, tag three people whose guilty pleasures you want to know, and why.

1. paperback novels, the kind the drugstores sell (yes, I know that's almost a line from a song)
Those novels usually have no more than 128 pages, they are mostly about sex with a side of finding your One True Love. They take about an hour to read and therefore are perfect before going to bed. Yes, they are nothing like good books, but they do the trick.
I have a stack of them next to my bed and buy new ones from time to time, when I feel I know the old stories by heart.

2. stationary. I adore stationary. I love to browse through the stores and look at all the different sorts of files and coloured tabs and sticky notes and pens and everything. Since I left school, I've limited the number of things I buy to only a little more than strictly necessary, but I still love to go to stationary shops.

3. flirting. It's an addiction. Once I started flirting with guys who would flirt back, I found it hard to stop.

4. physical fitness. All they say about the endorphins that flood your system after a good workout is true. Also, I love watching people with good figures. Guys, mostly, because watching girls in better shape than me makes me feel self-conscious. But a nice sixpack, muscular arms and strong legs - yum!

5. starring in my own stories. I am Mary Sue at her best. Happily, at least for you guys, I rarely write down those stories.

6. getting asked for dates. It's still a bit of a novelty for me, and I just love it. I'm totally thrilled if a guy asks me out. Now all I need to learn is how to actually accept and go out with them...

7. because there has been no foodstuff before: the cookies you can get at Subway's. They remind me of America because they taste a lot like to cookies I ate there. I could eat one everytime I pass a shop, but I try not to, because I'm sure they have more calories than an average meal.

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

And [ profile] jonthedull tagged me to list 8 random facts:
Here are the rules:
• Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
• People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
• At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
• Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. I have a set routine in the mornings and I hate it when it's disturbed.
2. I let only a few select people come to my place. My flat is my own.
3. I randomly quote from songs or books, which can be tricky if I put an English quote into a German conversation.
4. If people laugh in my presence, I wonder whether they laugh about me.
5. I am unable to do smalltalk. I'd rather be silent.
6. I like to play patience games like solitaire in all its many variations.
7. When listening to music, I pay attention to the lyrics.
8. I enjoy helping other people clean their houses, but I don't really like to clean mine.
You scored as Aramis. You are Aramis, the Musketeer priest. Two natures war within you: one full of high-minded ideals and the other a sensualist. Your love life is an art form, and you are a Romantic who places great importance on the perfect date. Sometimes you manipulate people and events a little too much, but your heart is good nevertheless.

Seriously, I adore Richelieu. Among the politicians of past and present, there are two people I would have liked to know, and he is one. The other is Talleyrand. (Though maybe Churchill would have been interesting, too.)
